UNDERSTANDING SLAPPS: Process
and Procedure from Initiation through Appeal
I'd like
to invite you to attend the Third Annual "Understanding
SLAPPs: Process and Procedure from Initiation through
Appeal," presented by Pincus Professional Education.
This program walks you through the process you need
to understand to litigate this complex issue. You will
learn SLAPPS from both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s
perspectives. You will understand the motion process,
how to argue and defend a SLAPP motion, how to handle
an appeal or a “SLAPPBACK” motion and learn
strategies for accomplishing each party’s options.
You will also find out about the ongoing fights over
attorneys’ fees and the increased use of fee expert
testimony to adequately establish and recoup attorneys’
fees when you win. More importantly, you will learn
how a declaration from a SLAPP fee expert can be indispensable
in cutting the fee award down to size if your SLAPP
opposition is unsuccessful.
Returning to teach are Philip L. Goar, a Senior Judicial
Attorney at the Second District Court of Appeal; James
J. Moneer, a private attorney who specializes in SLAPP
motions; and me. We are also proud to announce the addition
of Judge Amy D. Hogue of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
“Understanding SLAPPS” is scheduled for
October 6th in Los Angeles, at the Los Angeles Athletic
Club, 431 West Seventh Street, from 1:00 to 5:15 pm.
The program will be audio recorded for those that cannot
attend in person and want to download an .mp3 or receive
a CD (see below).
